In the first episode, which takes place in 2014, Diane is hired to ghostwrite BoJack's autobiography. Mr. Peanutbutter tells Pickles to keep having sex with guys until she finds someone with whom she has an intimate connection. In Planned Obsolescence, Mr. Peanutbutter surprises Pickles, by picking her up from work and inviting her to go with him to the desert, so they can watch the international space station being blown up. Diane suggests he hire a personal driver, and he shortly thereafter catches Todd in the act of planting unspecified incriminating evidence in his computer as part of BoJack's plan. Just then, Todd walks in with Ruthie and asks BoJack if he is ready for his interview. Princess Carolyn comes along, and Mr. Peanutbutter asks her about the reboot of a movie. This would eventually end in their divorce, since the fact that Mr. Peanutbutter pressured Diane to approach BoJack, involving another one of Mr. Peanutbutter's . He immediately guesses what Diane's costume too, and in an annoyed tone asks what she wants. Diane then calls Mr. Peanutbutter on the phone and he sounds excited to hear from her. He notes that shaking off made their problem worse, despite the skunk scent being cleared from their bodies. BoJack leaves after telling her that her new haircut looks great and Mr. Peanutbutter will love it. Later, Mr. Peanutbutter talks to Oxnard about TV show ideas. He also tells Mr. Peanutbutter his strangling doesn't look real enough. He tells Diane on the phone the lazy Susans at his restaurant became problematic as they were offensive to Susans. However, after the two take their bath, Mr. Peanutbutter becomes irritated by the tomato sauce in his fur and tries to resist shaking off. Mr. Peanutbutter replies he and Pickles have put their relationship on hiatus while she is on her work trip. Mr. Peanutbutter then admits to Diane that he does get lonely sometimes. In A Horse Walks Into Rehab, Princess Carolyn then gets a call from Mr. Peanutbutter. Mr. Peanutbutter then tells her it's fantastic that she has a boyfriend and wants to hear all about him. He is always trying to reach out to BoJack and be his friend. He goes on to say that if he does nothing then eventually the public will like him again. In another flashback, BoJack shows up at Diane's apartment to pick her up for Mr. Peanutbutter's housewarming party and finds her with a new haircut and outfit. Pickles tells him she is so confused. Joey tells her that's exactly right and she totally gets him. After Woodchuck says during a press conference that if a state senator was willing to actually petition for an amendment to the constitution that would democratically allow him to bid his governor title on a ski race, then he would accept the challenge. Flip tells the cameraman to turn the camera back in. and runs upstairs to the bedroom crying. In The Dog Days Are Over, Diane wanders around Vietnam taking pictures and eating food. Mr. Peanutbutter continues on to say he knows when he was in a relationship with Diane he wouldn't really listen to her and he apologizes for that. Mr. Peanutbutter then notices the entire kitchen set from Mr. Peanutbutter's House. It is also shown how nervous Mr. Peanutbutter was after he proposed to Pickles and how happy she was not knowing that he had previously cheated on her twice with his ex-wife Diane. Mr. Peanutbutter in the meanwhile gets his driver's license suspended for chasing after mailmen. He asks her if she's okay because the other night she left his party crying. In The Stopped Show, Mr. Peanutbutter goes to visit Diane, wanting to talk about how they had sex after the Philbert premier. Diane says she isn't jealous either and leaves. Wanda tells him in a threatening tone that this is network television, so all their show's problems must be wrapped up in under half an hour, and the people want resolution. The therapist, Dr. Janet, tells Diane that for the next time she has to focus on putting her feelings into words. Mr. Peanutbutter then reveals that he and Todd have been sprayed by a skunk. Meanwhile, as the therapist pointed out, even though she's a writer, Diane does not express her feeling for Mr Peanutbutter (save for the influence of drugs) yet he accepts Diane for her way (or lack thereof) of expressing herself so in that sense it's an uneven relationship. This almost jeopardized Mr. Peanutbutter's job, as he and Hank both work at MBN, he even looked up to Hank growing up, and he started receiving death threats for Diane. In Zos and Zeldas, Diane's ex-boyfriend Wayne follows Mr. Peanutbutter as he claims he is writing a Buzzfeed article on him. When she walks away, he swallows a couple of his painkillers for his back and says this party sucks. Mr. Peanutbutter announces to the set that his mom dies and asks for support. However, she inadvertently encourages him to keep trying when she tells him she thinks he would have been a great governor after he says even though he likes Woodchuck, he still wanted to beat him. Diane mentions the divorce papers but gets interrupted by the waitress, an excitable pug lady named Pickles, who gets along with Mr. Peanutbutter. The party has ended and in their car, Diane apologizes to Mr. Peanutbutter for ruining another Halloween for him. He is five years younger than BoJack, despite looking much younger. After seeing Diane, he puts his mom on hold. Mr. Peanutbutter tells BoJack he took the liberty of doing his laundry for him and found a letter in his jacket pocket. Pickles tells Mr. Peanutbutter that she doesnt want to be mad at him, and Mr. Peanutbutter says thats great, going on to say that he knows he caused her pain but he still wants to marry her. Diane, who now has a bunch of car keys, is still trying to get her car out and calling people to move their cars. Mr. Peanutbutter begins Season 2 by wearing a dog cone, after having to get stitches in his arm after punching a mirror while he was drunk; as he thought his reflection another dog. Princess Carolyn prepares to calls a cleaning service, while Todd and Mr. Peanutbutter take care of their foul-smelling clothes. She goes through a brutal divorce with Mr. Peanutbutter, a loving relationship the audience has to watch slowly unravel from season 1 to season 5. Mr. Peanutbutter says he needs a drink and asks if there is a bar. When Diane tries to convince him again, Mr. Peanutbutter gets angry at her, questioning if she thinks she knows his brother better than him, and just because she has a bad family doesn't mean everyone else does. He goes on to say they want to help him share his story with the world much Mr. Peanutbutters surprise. BoJack brings this up but denies to Diane he wants to talk about it. Mrpeanutbutter does need to stop and think about his actions before he does them. Mr. Peanutbutter stays in the upstairs bedroom watching Pickles sulk. Princess Carolyn walks up to him and asks if everything is all right. BoJack gets angry at his mockery and tells him Diane went to Cordovia to get away from her failing marriage. When Mr. Peanutbutter tries to give her the version with whip cream he realizes its gone. Mr. Peanutbutter apologizes to Pickles, telling her that he wants her to know everything about him, but he likes her and that every time he sees her he likes her a little bit more.

Princess Carolyn approaches Mr. Peanutbutter and she is confused when she spots Joey Pogo driving through the set. He explains it's the company car, and it matches his hat. After abandoning their first idea of a Halloween store during January, Mr. Peanutbutter throws a large launch party for "Smoodies" (a mood you can drink) at his house without an actual product behind the idea. Todd then tells BoJack he has his work cut out because people hate him right now. Mr. Peanutbutter loves honeydew, while BoJack hates it. At night, BoJack is in bed with Gina. Mr. Peanutbutter says he's really happy for her. Todd celebrates his legal victory with a party at BoJack's house. He tells them he'd be delighted to answer questions about his good friend BoJack.
